Coffin Car Racers

The idea of this event is to allow each visitor to Ironstock the opportunity to design and build their own miniature coffin racer and compete in a grueling, spine tingling, nail biting race to the death.

The Coffin Cars:

Racers can be made in any style and from any material as long as they are easily recognizable as a burial container. i.e.: coffin, casket, sarcophagus, etc.

Each racer must have at least three wheels touching the track at all times.

Each racer must carry one corpse of your choice.
(The coffins can race in closed casket form if desired.)

No engine or propulsion of any type

No open flames.

Wheels can be attached to the car in any manner, but must not extend beyond the front of the coffin.

Restrictions:

Maximum weight.…..15 lbs.
(Each racer WILL be weighed before each run.)

Maximum length.…..16”

Maximum width…….10”

Maximum height…….8”

The Track:

The course shall consist of a launch incline eight feet long, followed by a level run of sixteen feet.

The launch incline shall be divided into two lanes, each approximately 12” inches wide. The incline shall be two feet high at the rearmost part and level with the course at the front edge.

The official "Starting Line" shall be two feet from the rear edge of the incline. A mechanized starting gate will be provided. The official judge for the race will be provided with body guards, and whisked away at the end of the races to a safe and secure location.

Running the Race:

Races will be run in heats of two cars each. (Depending on the number of entries, and time allotted, we will have a double elimination for each racer.)

The coffins are to be launched with the front of each coffin on the starting line. The first to cross the finish line is the winner. If neither coffin makes it to the finish line, the one going the furthest in its lane wins.

Winning coffins will advance to the next round until all are eliminated except one.

Although no motors, rubber bands, bottle rockets, trained rodents, diet Coke and Mentos, or any other type of propulsion unit of any kind will be allowed, each participant is encouraged to detail or decorate their coffin as they want.
